Designer Appreciation Day Coming To High Point
The High Point Design Center has planned a Designer Appreciation Day for Wednesday, September 8. Events include a complimentary lunch by E. Ellingtons at The Atrium on Main, 430 South Main Street, in High Point and a presentation by Terri Maurer, ASID National Past President and co-author of "Interior Design in Practice."
All High Point Design Center showrooms will be open for shopping throughout the day, including Swaim, Christopher Guy, and The Atrium showrooms. Host showrooms include: Bernard Christianson, Christopher Guy, Swaim, and Durham Furniture. For more information, visit www.highpointdesigncenter.com.
Dallas' Outdoor Living Showroom Relocates, Expands
Dallas Market Center's Outdoor Living shared showroom will relocate and expand to more than 31,000 square feet of garden, patio and outdoor products. The new space will debut during the Total Home & Gift Market, January 19-25, 2011.
Outdoor Living, previously located on the 6th floor of the World Trade Center, will move to the International Floral & Gift Center (IFGC) on the 1st floor adjacent to the registration area. The new space will offer more room to grow the outdoor product category and allow interior design professionals easy access, with parking directly outside the building.
During the January Total Home & Gift Market, a grand opening celebration will be held to unveil the new and expanded shared showroom.
Caravan Renews AmericasMart Lease
Caravan Rug has renewed its multi-year lease at AmericasMart Atlanta. The company has renewed its 5,700-square-foot showroom on Floor 4 in Building 1 to spotlight its designs in “the world’s largest collection of area rugs.”
828 International Returns To High Point
Rug provider 828 International Trading Co. will return to the High Point Market in October with a temporary space located in the new rug gallery on the top floor of Suites at Market Square, #1-716. The company will showcase its new introductions and displays, as well as existing machine-made and handmade collections.

George Little Management has announced 2011 dates for the winter and summer editions of the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF). The schedule includes:

High Point Enhances Website
The High Point Market Authority (HPMA) has unveiled a new website design at www.highpointmarket.org, offering more interactive tools and features to streamline the High Point Market experience for exhibitors and attendees.
With the introduction of MyMarket, attendees are able to customize the Market Week experience, find suppliers, presenters and events, and save selections for future reference in an itinerary. MyMarket is also mobile browser compatible, with access from smart phones and iPads. Additional tools and features on the website include: streamlined registration; travel discounts and codes for airlines, hotels and rental cars; an online hotel reservation system; an exhibitors list, searchable by category, style, price point and location; and an event listings for all educational, entertainment and networking opportunities.
For High Point Market exhibitors, the site offers a Marketing Center that includes a comprehensive overview of High Point Market’s communications program, an exhibitor listing tool that keeps contact information up-to-date, contacts for leasing information and lead retrieval.
Chesterton Appointed To IHMRS Board
Jan Marie Chesterton, president, New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association (NYSH&TA), has been named to the Board of Directors for the International Hotel, Motel + Restaurant Show (IHMRS). Chesterton was named president of NYSH&TA in July 2010. In this role, she spearheads all lobbying efforts, provides leadership for the Association's day-to-day organizational operations, and oversees the fulfillment of membership needs.
The nine-member Board of Directors also includes: Joseph Spinnato, president, Hotel Association of New York City; Joe McInerney, president and CEO, American Hotel & Lodging Association; Vijay Dandapani, chief operating officer, Apple Core Hotels; John Fitzpatrick, CEO North America, Fitzpatrick Hotel Group; Michael Hoffman, president, Turf Hotels; Pedro Mandoki, CHA, president, Mandoki Hospitality Group; Anthony Mangano, CHA, vice president, Syramada Hotel Corporation; and John Russell, CEO, NYLO Hotels, LLC.

Piedmont Triad Partnership Hires Communications Firm
The Piedmont Triad Partnership (PTP), an economic development group representing North Carolina’s 12-county Piedmont Triad region, has chosen High Point, North Carolina-based McNeill Communications to direct all marketing and communications for its new furnishings cluster initiative. McNeill Communications will work with the PTP to increase the global visibility of the Piedmont Triad region among domestic and international companies involved with multiple sectors of the furnishings cluster, including residential, contract, hospitality, institutional and others. The initiative aims to make these companies more aware of the unique furnishings-related assets and resources that the region offers and to attract more companies to make capital investments and create jobs in the area.
The appointment of McNeill Communications is the first step in a comprehensive initiative that will be announced during the Fall High Point Market.
Chelsea House Partners With Matthew Frederick
Chelsea House, Inc. has partnered with designer Matthew Frederick and his design firm M. Frederick to create a new collection, to be called M. Frederick for Chelsea House, that will include lighting, art, decorative accessories and occasional furniture. The M. Frederick for Chelsea House Collection will reflect a transitional, elegant design style and will include everything from scented candles to occasional furniture.
Chelsea House and M. Frederick for Chelsea House products will preview at the Fall High Point Market and at The Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market in January 2011.
Lorts Signs Christy Dillard
Lorts Manufacturing has entered into a licensing agreement with acclaimed Atlanta interior designer Christy Dillard. Dillard will work with Lorts to develop a furniture collection, to be released in early 2011.
The Christy Dillard Collection will incorporate signatures of the designer's style: classic silhouettes with unexpected detailing, bold color and styling selections, and an energized, contemporary perspective. A graduate of Auburn University and an Allied Member of ASID, Dillard is an active participant in the Southeastern interior design community.
Biltmore Renews Licensing Agreement With Belk
Biltmore’s licensing division, a brand specializing in products inspired by the historic Biltmore House and gardens, has announced the renewal of its partnership agreement with mainline department store company Belk. Belk originally joined Biltmore as a licensing partner in 2005, focusing on home textiles and bringing its first Biltmore products to market in 2006. Since then, the partnership has grown to be Biltmore’s most in-depth, offering a full range of luxury products. The recent renewal of this licensing agreement extends the partnership for another five years.
This fall, Belk will unveil a variety of new Biltmore products including bedding, china, Mother-of-Pearl serveware and a wide range of holiday products.
7 W To Host Designer Day
Pantone’s Laurie Pressman will present “Color Trends for Carpets & Beyond" as part of the Designer Day event at 7 W New York. Taking place September 13, the presentation will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the 7 W Event Suite on the building’s 11th Floor Event Space. Pressman will begin with a presentation entitled "PantoneView Home + Interiors 2011 -- Color Trends: The Catalysts That Create Change." Then, a panel of color, design and carpet industry experts -- including author Alix Perrachon, carpet designer Malene Barnett, and Benjamin Moore’s 2010 HUE award winner and interior designer Ghislaine Viñas -- will join Pressman for further discussion.
